Hedge customers reported that this is a serious and growing problem, forcing editors to spend valuable creative time naming and annotating incoming files. For NLEs that don’t support a particular flavor of RAW, film and videomakers can convert, for example, Blackmagic RAW to Apple ProRes, quickly and accurately.Įlements are Hedge's term for the varied and customizable metadata that users can now associate (and keep) with a file to clarify the role of that file to other creative and technical professionals later in the workflow. Log workflows are simple and well established. First, it has to be processed and adjusted to a format and "look" that suits the editor and the editing workflow.ĮditReady converts camera RAW footage into the Log format native to the camera manufacturer. Today, we're proud to announce Hedge Elements, EditReady RAW, and Canister Spanning and Preflight Checks: three major updates that we can pretty much guarantee will make your life as a video professional easier."ĮditReady, a transcoding application, now supports RAW video, including ARRI RAW, Codex HDE, ProRes RAW, and RED R3D, and Blackmagic RAW. "These product releases are a direct result of their most popular and persistent requests, and customers actively helped in testing these releases in their workflows. It’s a minor inconvenience.ĮditReady is $50 as a download ( customers have been a driving force in our product development and roadmap from day one," said Paul Matthijs, co-founder and CEO of Hedge. One feature missing from the software is the ability to change frame size, so you can’t output a full resolution 1080p file and use EditReady to produce a quarter resolution H.264 file. To be fair, I have observed more serious problems with Media Encoder in the past…ĮditReady can also be used to produce H.264 files, for instance as viewing copies for internet transmission. Although there was no visible difference between these files and the ones generated by EditReady, the picture data in the files were different – not wrong, just different. I used Quicktime as the reference, producing ProRes 422 files, as I reckoned that Apple software using an Apple CODEC was a sensible starting place. It’s worth noting that the results from EditReady were different to the results from the other packages, but only in a few least significant bits. EditReady was faster than the others even on a 2008 Mac Pro, which has none of the hardware acceleration of newer machines, though I presume that some of the calculations were still off-loaded to the GPU. Quicktime, Compressor and Adobe’s Media Encoder were nowhere close – EditReady isn’t just a few percent faster, in our tests it was nearly twice as fast as Media Encoder and three times as fast as Compressor (single node) and Quicktime. The UI also allows you to edit metadata – either for individual files or as a batch.Īs a simple way of converting your camera files, EditReady is an attractive package, but it sells itself on its speed – and it is really fast. There is a great deal of flexibility in the output filename, with auto-incrementing file numbers, creation date and so on, but you can also use any of the input files’ metadata in the output filename – for example camera name, reel name or shot/take information. The user interface provides (editable) presets for the encoding format and you can burn in a LUT if required. Of course, if your Mac was built before 2011, or if it’s a new Mac Pro (which uses Intel’s server chipset and so doesn’t have QuickSync) then you won’t see quite the transcoding acceleration that newer MacBooks Pros, Airs and iMacs will bring. It does this with a simple, batch interface – just drag-and-drop the files – and it does it very fast.ĮditReady leverages your Mac’s hardware to perform various bits of its transcoding – Intel’s QuickSync (built into most chip-sets since 2011) accelerates H.264 encoding and decoding, and the GPU is used to convert between colour spaces and sampling schemes, freeing the CPU to do what it’s good at, and saving power in the process. It takes pretty much any format video (if it will play in Quicktime then it’s likely to be compatible – so no REDCODE RAW) and transcodes it to ProRes, DNxHD or H.264. EditReady takes pretty much any format video (if it will play in Quicktime then it’s likely to be compatible – so no REDCODE RAW) and transcodes it to ProRes, DNxHD or H.264.Ī bit of software that promises to transcode rushes for your NLE faster than the competition sounds like a Good Thing – we all spend too much of our lives watching that little blue progress bar inch, glacially, towards its destination.ĮditReady, from Divergent Media, is just such a solution.

Male Mages are pretty much pointless in general, because - except a reclassed Saber (and why would you do that when you have Celica, Genny AND Mae?) - none of the male Mages get Seraphim, the single most important spell in the game. Mage!Kliff is honestly not that good, in my opinion. Her low Skill certainly isn't made to let her wield swords effectively. Saying that Baron are the worst class is like saying that Mage!Kliff is the worst I forgot Alm have a solo section part so you are forced to use him.Įh, Celica can deal with the Dreads well enough if you dump all Def boosts onto her. Can you still win? Yes, by spamming phantoms. And I don't think that Celica+Mae alone can face easily a dreadfighter.Īs much I remember, my palla still take lot of damage from Deen even with a shield. I have nothing against sword user, just dreadfighter. High mobility, high speed and halved magic damage is sure not broken. Might actually try this for myself one day. Alm run isn't that hard to do, but a fun challenge nonetheless. With that being said, Yuzu was my MVP on Alm's route in my 10 units per side only run, so I think it's at least a little unfair to disregard her like everyone seems to do. Note: I exaggerated my points for comedic effect, not to insult / offend anyone. The only enemies you'll really need to be careful of are Gold Knights, due to their high movement, and even they get stopped cold by a well trained Faye with the right equipment. Pegasus Knight!Faye is also very much capable of countering Dread Fighters, especially if you forge something (read: Romphaea) for her.īarons cower in fear at the mere sight of Delthea or anyone with Magic and a Mage Ring really, so there you have your counter for those fellows.Įnemy Archers are inaccurate as hell and you can swarm them with your fliers or pick them apart with your mages. Slap the boots from Mila's Bounty on her and her low movement also becomes a moot point. Sure, her HP may be a little low, but her sheer power and speed will destroy just about anything that dares to get near her, Dread Fighters included, as, lo and behold, Magic isn't her only means of attack, even if she is a Priestess. I love how everyone is disregarding Yuzu as anything other than 'she's there', when she's likely the best out of the DLC characters, damage-output-wise. Not only is it easier to begin with, but Celica/Mae make a great core for earlygame, and you get useful female units (Palla and Catria, etc.) at a much faster clip I disagree with Dread Fighter being a remotely OP class and everyone agrees Baron is the worst, so there's not nearly as much loss as you claim.Ĭelica's route will be the easier one, surely, especially if you don't use Alm (or at least don't use him much maybe use him just enough that he can survive his solo section?). I'm not sure why you think enemy sword-users are particularly scary units even if they double you you can shut down their damage with a shield, and you have multiple mages to lob spells at them whlie they struggle to move on the desert. I barely used my male units on Deen's map IIRC. Enemy's archers will rekt you, specially considering 3 of 4 female class are weak to archer. You have crappy def and you can't have archer. You may decide to give up recruiting Sonya because you cannot fight against Deen(but you will fight another Dreadfighter the followed battle). You can't have baron, the only counter to dreadfighter aside from dreadfighter itself. You can't have dreadfighter, the most op class. Echoes female only have quite many problem that need at least one male pe side: Well, if you manage to reach the final boss. I'm likely to play this on Normal, like I did with Sacred Stones. (As a consequence, I will need to do Grieth's Citadel and Nuibaba's Abode).Īny suggestions for strategies? I can see things like Genny's Invoke becoming invaluable, but I'm less sure on some other things, like which of Faye's promotions would offer the greatest safety and how dangerous fatigue might become with only seven party members. Because of the Royal Vault in Act 5, I will be using Alm, and I will need Luthier to get Delthea, if memory serves.Īlm gets Alm, Faye, Clair, Silque, Mathilda, Delthea and Tatiana.Ĭelica gets Celica, Mae, Genny, Palla, Catria, Est and Sonya. I've noticed that, due to favouritism on my part or the developer's, my main units wound up being girls, and I want to try and see if I can truly beat this game with all girls as I did with Sacred Stones. So, I've beaten Echoes, and as per normal, my MVP was a pegasus knight (Clair, because the Whitewings had to share kills on the less populated route and Faye somehow fell behind Tobin, of all people). What’s interesting is that I have some support for the idea that the show we were watching was very different from the one all involved thought they were making - from the show’s actors and producers themselves. Was the show we were watching different from the show the creative team thought they were making? June contemplates a handgun. But alas, we ended up with something very, very different and much messier. Imperfect but interested in difficult questions about where the dividing line is between terrorist and revolutionary, and trying to figure out just how far gone June Osborne is. This is what I wanted season three to be, I thought. (Also, music by Mazzy Star, courtesy of their mournful song “Into Dust,” was a nice step outside of the show’s usual troll-y hits.) While I would not call “Mayday” a perfect episode of television, from the moment that plane of kids landed in Canada - where they were greeted (somewhat improbably, but whatever) by Luke, Moira, and Emily - to the moment June closed her eyes to rest, possibly for eternity, I was all-in in a way I rarely have been this season. Such an episode is “Mayday,” which is an altogether stronger finale than the weak closer that capped off The Handmaid’s Tale season two, if not quite to the level of the season one ending. It’s as if, for a brief moment, the show has provided a glimpse into an alternate universe where the season was everything it could have been. This week, critic at large Emily VanDerWerff and staff writer Constance Grady discuss “Mayday,” the third season finale.Įmily VanDerWerff: Watching a largely satisfying finale to a season of TV that never quite came together can feel like watching the ending of a different story than the one previously being told. It may seem like you can test everything in Tetris just by playing it for a few minutes, but this is very unlikely! As I explain in this article, the game is filled with special cases that rarely occur in normal play, and these can only be easily found with the help of a coverage tool. Though it's simple enough to be implemented in one line of BBC BASIC, it's complex enough to be really hard to thoroughly test. But that's not all that's difficult about it. It's easy to play but hard to master, and it's based on a NP-hard problem. New submitter JackDW writes: Tetris is one of the best-known computer games ever made. Both Eclipse and Android Studio offer fairly high-end Java auto complete feature for programmers and app development experts. Code Completion feature – Not much to choose between the two IDEs in this regard. Not something that is possible with Eclipse. There are even automation options to upload the beta version of. Even so, the all-new Gradle build system of Android Studio (along with Groovy DSL) comes across as more advanced, and offers greater conveniences for mobile app developers. Ant is based on XML, and ranks high on the reliability and performance counts. Apache Ant vs Gradle – Java developers with at least some experience would be familiar with the Apache Ant build system, which Eclipse comes with (via a plugin).Eclipse with Android plugin is not bad or anything – its just that learning it properly requires more time. First-time Android app developers, in particular, would find the newer IDE easier and quicker to get a hang of. Hence, it is not surprising that its overall interface layout (buttons and tabs and general navigation) is just that bit more complicated than that of Android Studio. User interface (UI) – First things first, Eclipse, unlike Android Studio, is not a native Android IDE (it is a Java IDE and is compatible with multiple platforms). We will here do an Eclipse vs Android Studio comparative study based on a few key parameters, and find out which one comes out on top: There is a general feel that Android Studio is gradually ‘ eclipsing’ the popularity of Eclipse – thanks to its greater user-friendly nature. Fast forward another month, and app developers got the new stable version of Google’s Android Studio (v.1.1). In January, the latest version of Eclipse (probably the Java IDE with the largest user-base worldwide) – Eclipse Luna (4.4.2) – was released. It has been an exciting couple of months for Android app and software developers. Let us here pit the two IDEs against each other, and try to identify the better one. However, it is currently facing serious competition from Google’s very own Android Studio. Eclipse has been, for years now, the preferred integrated development environment (IDE) for Android developers. The store is about the size of a Trader Joe's and in many way the product mix is similar. Servello built the organization and its networks gradually, establishing relationships with farmers, familiar large retailers and companies such as Chobani, Four years ago, Bargain Grocery moved to a newly built store in a neighborhood east of downtown Utica, allowing for a dramatic increase in sales and popularity. He soon realized that the best path involved bypassing the usual middle-men to focus instead on the vast quantities of food that are routinely thrown away, often for superficial reasons.īut here's what really makes the operation remarkable: Bargain Grocery's profits fund a broader charity that annually distributes $25 million worth of food, household items, school supplies and other items to Utica's poor, free of charge. Servello, a pastor, founded Bargain Grocery two decades ago aiming to serve the poor in Utica neighborhoods without grocery options. "Fresh produce is central to what we do here," said Michael Servello, the store's founder, standing next to blueberries priced at $1.49 a pint as he swept his arm sweeping his arm toward bins of tomatoes, peppers, onions, zucchinis and, well, just about every fruit and veggie you'd expect at a supermarket.
